PHYSIOTHERAPY

Children with physical disabilities often spend their day in the same position-lying on the floor or propped up on a bed. This can lead to various types of postural deformities over time. At AKI, our Physical Therapy program aims to optimise each child’s potential and to enable children to function as independently as they possibly can.

Through hands-on techniques our skilled paediatric physical therapists work to progressively improve muscle coordination and strength, range of motion, motor learning, balance acquisition, mobility, cardiopulmonary health, and movement patterns in a fun and relaxed setting. We challenge and motivate children to achieve progressive developmental milestones, helping them achieve greater physical independence and abilities while ensuring their well-being

Our passionate and experienced child therapists have helped over
24,000 children
through customised therapy sessions that last from 40 minutes to 1 hour.

Over 40% of all the children that we see at AKI have profound disabilities GMFCS grades 4 and 5.

At AKI, we use an evidence-based approach rooted in the WHO's International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) model , enhanced with modern techniques to provide exceptional neurological rehabilitation for children with special needs. Our therapists use an interdisciplinary approach, integrating physical therapy with speech, occupational, and vision therapy. We collaborate with paediatricians and neurologists for seizure management, and obstetricians for antenatal care.
